How to remove “Warning! Your’re in danger!” background

Malware Description:
The rapidity of propagation of the rogue anti-spyware called System Tool is astonishing these days. Along with its numerous browser hijackers, this time it’s the fake desktop background that is being used as a component of its tactics. This background reads “WARNING! YOUR’RE IN DANGER! YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED WITH SPYWARE!”. In any case, if your desktop theme has changed without you authorization to the one described here, it means the unregistered version of System Tool rogue is lurking somewhere inside your PC and persistently implementing its plan. It’s noteworthy that the text of this background has misspellings (accidental or deliberate ones) – e.g. the word “YOUR’RE” is far from being correctly spelt. “Warning! Your’re in danger!” theme is displayed by trojans that modify some computer settings to scare you into installing the full commercial version of the affiliated rogue anti-spyware, i.e. System Tool. It works with naive people; it’s a wrong thing to do, through. By downloading the full version of the program advised by the “Warning! Your’re in danger!” background, you will jeopardize your computer functionality and your own privacy because System Tool will make its way into all basic system processes and affect them irrevocably. On the other hand, if you do nothing about the “Warning! Your’re in danger!” desktop theme, you will end up letting System Tool go on disrupting your Operating System as well. Either way, you lose. So the most reasonable thing to do if you are getting “Warning! Your’re in danger!” background is to check your PC for infections and remove them once detected.

Can I download it on my home PC and copy the remover to CD and install it on my CONTAMINATED laptop?

    Sean,
You can try downloading the remover on the infected notebook in Safe Mode With Networking – you can access it by repeatedly pressing F8 button when booting up.
If you are still unable to access the internet normally, you can try downloading the tool on a computer that’s not contaminated and then save it to a CD or other removable drive. Then, install it to the laptop – you are right.

In my experience, you have a short amount of time when your computer boots, before the wallpaper switches to the black warning screen. Before it switches, hit ctrl + alt + delete and go to Processes tab. Whenever you see a process that is a series of numbers (e.g., 0413429.exe), kill it quickly. I don’t know what the actual numbers are, unfortunately.
I did this, and it enabled me to search my computer for the additional files that need to be deleted.
    Good luck!

This virus appears to have changed a bit over time. I found the malicious file in D:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\eDleFpm08200\eDleFpm08200.exe.

There was a similarly named registry key that I had to delete as well.

Note that “Application Data” is a hidden folder in XP.
